John Cantine was still living in Caroline in 1827 and sent one child between the age of 5 and 15 to the district school at Motts corners (district no 12).
Rev. Garrett Mandeville of Caroline, the Founder of the Caroline Reformed Dutch Church was born March 19 1775, Just one month before the Battle of Lexington. His wife whose maiden name was Miss DeWitt was born October 11 the same year. They were married in 1799. Rev. G. Mandeville died December 13, 1853. Buried at the Dutch Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Maria Green née Stilwell born in Hector, December 26, 1806. Her parents moved to Caroline when she was nine years old. Her father Isaac Stillwell originally came from Ulster County New York. Lived in Hector six years. Her (Mrs. Green) elder sister and brother Cornelius [Stilwell] were born in Ulster County. Saw Mrs. Green April 6/92. C.F.M

Chapter 247. Laws of 1810 An Act to incorporate the Tioga Turnpike Road Company passed April 9, 1811 John Cantine, Levy Slater, Christian Hart, and all such persons that shall be associated with them for the purpose of making a good and sufficient turnpike to begin where the Jericho and Bath Turnpike crosses the line of Tioga and Cayuga County and Ithaca and then running south to the intersection of the Ithaca and Owego Turnpike a distance of about 10 miles were incorporated by the name of the President and Directors of the Tioga Turnpike Company.
