Roe Cemetery near Brookton, Caroline, New York. William Roe died August 31, 1830 aged 87 years. A pioneer on the Roe farm about 1803. His wife died July 30, 1830 aged 85. They had several sons one John M. Roe, father of Nathaniel [Roe] and Walter [Roe]. John M. Roe died March 27, 1867 82 years. An infant son of John M. Roe was buried here in 1823.

Frances M. Finch of Ithaca was a graduate of Yale College class of 49.
The estate of David J. Shaw of Cortland County, New York inventoried $302,000. There was a shrinkage by losses and depreciation of $51,500 leaving for distribution $250,500. The lawyers got $83,500 for contesting and breaking the will. This left $167,000 to be divided into six shares of $24,500 each. Of the amount paid to lawyers Milo Goodrich received $13,916 for his part. Robert and Asa E. Phillips were nephews of Shaw and received one share. A.E.P to S.P.A. these particulars.

Jeremiah Harkin the blacksmith came to Caroline in 1834 and has lived here since. Worked two years at Motts Corners and has lived at Slaterville since. He was born 2 miles from Montrose, Pennsylvania.
At Ithaca Cemetery October 16, 1881. "The grave of Caroline wife of Vincent Conrad died July 4, 1842 in her 31st year"
She was the daughter of Dr. Joseph Speed and was one of the ladies whose name is connected with the naming of this town Caroline (Cantine) Giddings being the other.
