Judge Samuel H Dean was born in Ireland, came to America when he was 24 years old. He came over to America in 1812, settled in Delaware County, New York, married in the Douglass family and with them came to Caroline. They settled at Douglass Hill so called from them. Judge Dean died in the town of Candor, Tioga County, New York.

Note
